Hi! I am moving to the Nashville area for work (I commute) in Cool Springs. And I'm not familiar with Nashville and its areas around it. What are some some safe areas and apartment complexes for a single, professional woman? Ideally I won't have to commute more than 20-25 minutes.

My income before taxes is about $40k so I can't afford a lot of the really expensive places. I would like to get on the less expensive side as much as possible so I can pay off a chunk of my student debt quickly over the next two years (it is the only debt I have). But I don't want to compromise quality of living and feeling safe. Do you think I would be better off renting a room in someone's house instead of renting a place by myself if that's my goal (considering rental rates)? Are there places that do studio apartments that I can rent for awhile? Right now I live in Tennessee but in a less populated area away from the city where rent isn't nearly as high.

Thanks for any help.

I should have said less expensive, so I edited that. I can go up to $1,000 but I really don't want to. I would prefer more like $700-800, and even lower if I can. BUT I don't want to live in unsafe areas.

For that price, you either share or look in Bellevue where you can find apartments in the $800 range . . . I think you can still get to Cool Springs via Old Hickory, south on Hillsboro, and over the hill at Lynwood/S. Berry's Chapel Road to Cool Springs north end. Or stay on Hillsboro to Mack Hatcher to an office more south.

Thanks for the recommendations. Those are close to work too. Maybe coughing up the extra couple hundred dollars will balance out the extra gas I'd be spending and time I'd be losing by living further out.

I still welcome more recommendations.

I wonder if there could be something nice and less expensive further south in Spring Hill/Thompson's Station? Or maybe even a small house?
