So, if it works out and we end up moving to the area, we will have to switch from our current credit union. With that said, what are the best credit unions in the area, and or banks?

Ascend FCU is a good credit union.

I use Regions Bank, and have had no problems.

I second Ascend FCU.

Also, Pinnacle has excellent customer service.

We bank with two banks and one credit union. Ally bank is our online bank where we keep most of our savings. When I first moved here (4ish years ago) I opened an account with pinnacle bank and have used them for the majority of my time here. They've been a great "smaller" bank since I've been here. Last year my wife and I opened an account with US Community Credit Union. They've been really great too as far as perks go. They seem like a very community friendly CU. This month though we actually switched back to using Pinnacle as our main bank mostly because their access checking allows 4 atm fees to be reimbursed (if not using their atms) and we can use pinnacle with mint.com. Both are good ways to go in my opinion. Part of where you bank could also depend on where you live. US Community Credit union only has a couple of locations, most of which are farther east I think. So if you're in bellvue, it wouldn't be as convenient to bank there.

edit: I'll second Wmsn4life. Pinnacles customer service has always been great and if you ever step foot in their banks you'll notice how "professional"/"quality" feeling their branches are.

I recently opened an account with Pinnacle after looking at several banks and credit unions. I chose Pinnacle initially because they paid higher interest than any of the other local institutions. But the customer service is better than I've ever experienced. I also had a Regions account because they are the only bank in both TX & TN but they have nothing to offer as far as rates or anything special.

I've had excellent service from First Tennessee bank in Grasslands ever since I moved here. There was an "incident" of ATM card skimming in the area and they handled it efficiently and quickly. Two friends who banked at Bank of America said getting their money was a huge hassle. I like having someone I can see face to face, not email to some central office . . . somewhere. Just my preference!
