Hello All,

I have two interviews in Nashville next week. I have never been to the city before, but I have been considering moving out of Jacksonville for a long time as Florida is not my home state and I have no ties here. I am going to spend some time around town next weekend feeling everything out and deciding if it will be a good move for me. I have six months left on my Florida lease, but the Nashville job will be a 10-15 grand annual increase on my salary, so this is why I am really considering this move so soon.

Does anyone have enough knowledge of both of these cities to give me some ideas about what it's like to live (and not just visit) Nashville? How do the cities compare? I have never been in love with Jacksonville. For one, I consider the downtown area very dirty and there doesn't seem to be much of a culture or general vibe here as the city is so immense and widespread. I really enjoy a beautiful landscape as well and prefer a more mountainous (or hilly) area with a cooler climate. I grew up on the Gulf. Being close to the beach is nice, but I have never NOT lived near the beach... so a change might be interesting. Can anyone give me some insight and comparison on these two cities? Would Nashville be an ideal place for a female in her mid twenties looking for an attractive place to live with future career opportunity?

Thanks!

onlyerin6,

I can not do a comparison but what I can do is tell you what I know about Nashville. It is a thriving city & always something to do there especially in the summer. The terrain can be a variety of things from flat in some areas or hilly in others but there is plenty to choose from. I hate to tell you this but if you are looking to get away from the heat then you are out of luck. The humidity is a monster but it's all in what you get use to. The sun may be hotter in Jacksonville but it can't be too much of a difference.

Overall, I love Nashville but I sometimes wonder what it would be like to move to the beach. My husband and I will someday retire there will our ass's in the sand. Can you tell me what the advantages & disadvantages of living near or on a beach?
