My wife and I are looking at relocating. One of us will be working in Clarksville and the other in Nashville Near Opry Mills.

I am a Vandy Grad but that was 1984, and I have been to Ft. Campbell, but that was post Desert Storm, and I spent limited time off post.

We are looking at renting a home that would be somewhat equitable in the commute...any ideas?

Your best options would be Pleasant View or Joelton, with Pleasant View being in Cheatham County and closer to Clarksville and Joelton being in Davidson County, closer to Nashville (technically part of it).

Pleasant View is actually an incorporated city and might have more of your basic needs, while Joelton is definitely rural. Either way, you can live right off of I-24, giving you direct access to Briley Parkway, which will get one of you to work easily without having to go through downtown, and the other one quick access to Clarksville.

I agree with somewhereoutthere15. He/she has a good point.

I would definitely choose Pleasant View over Joelton, especially if schools are important to you.
