Making another trip from Evansville, IN, to Florida, I don't want to get caught up in the Nashville traffic again. I'll probably get near Nashville in early afternoon on a Saturday.
In your opinion, would leaving I-24 via Tennessee 49 going down to Ashland City make sense? I'm thinking that would allow me to catch I-155 near exit 24 and take that outer loop south.

Just come in via I-24 and pick up Briley Parkway (TN 155) to take that east/south around to I-24 south. You'll bypass the downtown and the various junctions that back up traffic. When you get back on I-24, you'll still have the traffic to Murfreesboro, but the highway has 4-5 lanes until you get past that city.

On a Saturday, what would make the most sense is to go straight through the middle of town.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll see how things progress when we get nearer the city.

Good advice. The Waze has saved my bacon many times driving through Nashville (and beyond)

No need to use TN 49 to get to TN 155 Briley Parkway on the west side. I thought you wanted to use TN 48 then TN 46 to get to I-40 then I-840. This route takes you thru Dickson to stop for gas etc.

On a Saturday best to go thru the city. AFAIK all the downtown construction on I-24 near Titan stadium should be over.

The drive from Evansville via I-69 & the Penny Parkway to I-24 should be nice & easy.

Curious. How'd things go yesterday? Did Waze help? Did you take 24 to the Briley exit? How was traffic in general. Did things come to a screeching halt at the I-24/I-59 junction just before Chattanooga?

Shinestx - Sorry for the confusion about "Saturday" as yesterday was not the Saturday in question. My Saturday will happen the first week in February.

Good luck. Coming in on I-24 should not be a big deal, at least until you get to TN155 (Briley). Then you'll be able to bypass the whole mess downtown. Definitely use Waze as you never know what sort of traffic tie-ups may occur.
