We are looking to relocate to TN from Chicago. We like both Durham Farms and Millstone. Are they good neighborhoods and is there one that is preferred over the other?

They are practically the same concept, except Durham Farms will have around 1000 homes when completed, vs around 600 for Millstone (if I'm correct) when completed. Both are new construction, which you have probably noticed, and both are within about the same proximity to the Indian Lake area.

We just bought a house in Millstone. I work downtown and it is 2 minutes from the Vietnam Veterans entrance which takes you to I65 and into downtown. Also, Millstone is zoned for the Station Camp school cluster. This was important to us because we already have kids in this school district. Our oldest is heading to college next year and we wanted something smaller and newer. I think Durham Farms is zoned for Beech, but you may want to double check that.

Ok so we have a 5 and 6 year old so high school is not on my mind yet but I see the ratings of Beech. Is that an area we should avoid

Millstone zoned for Station Camp Elementary, Middle and High (STEM designation)

Durham Farms zoned for

Elementary School: Dr. William Burrus Elementary at Drakes Creek
High School: Beech Sr High School
Middle School: Knox Doss Middle School

You can find further research here ...

You might also join Facebook group Positively Hendersonville and ask some general questions.

Durham Farms has an impressive pool/amenity center, Millstone smaller... Millstone close to 386 which is convenient.

Durham Farms used to be zoned for Station Camp, but they are slowly re-zoning areas for other schools due to overcrowding. The new high school expected to be built in the next few years will likely take many more areas from Station Camp, but Millstone is probably safe from any re-zoning.

It is even possible Durham Farms could be re-zoned for this new high school, but I can't guarantee it. Either way, both are great places to live and your children can receive a great education at any high school in the area.
