My daughter recently graduated college and has accepted a new job in the West Meade area and will be attending Grad School at Belmont University in the fall. She is moving from Tallahassee, Florida and will be taking her small 9 pound pup. Neither of us have ever been to Nashville before.

Unfortunately with the pandemic most apartment complexes are only offering virtual tours, which means I can only see on a small screen what they want me to see and not actually walk around in an actual apartment. Since I refuse to move my daughter 2 states away where she knows no one without having stepped foot in Nashville we are driving up there this weekend to drive around and get a feel for it and try to scope out an apartment. She would prefer a 2 bedroom so she can use 1 room as an office, but would be fine with a 1 bedroom apartment. She is trying to stay around $1300 or less a month. I have been online looking in the Bellevue and Brentwood areas as she wants to try and stay around/less than a 30 minute commute and these seemed to fit that criteria. She also wants a washer/dryer in the apartment. Just looking on websites we have Bellevue West, Lexington, Crossings at Bellevue, Hillmeade, Brentwood Oaks, Preserve at Brentwood, Lennox Village towncenter, Landing of Brentwood and Ashton Brook on our list. Obviously we are not "tied" to these since we are moving her "blind". Any comments, recommendations, suggestions, etc on the places we have on our list or any additional places.... are very much appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I haven't looked at apartments in a very long time but the Bellevue area has a lot to offer. I had two friends who lived here (see below) a few years back and it was nice - not sure what it's like now? One of them had a small dog.

It's close to the Warner Parks. Not sure about the commute times but there are a few different routes to get her to Belmont and perhaps she will miss any rush hour. Hillsboro (Aka Route 106) gets very backed up through Green Hills but Green Hills has some nice shopping including a Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

Nashville tends to be a pretty friendly place when there's no pandemic or protests . . so she should meet people pretty quickly. Good luck with her move!

Personally, anything you list that says Brentwood or is east of I65 will be a ridiculous drive to West Meade. For $1,300 she will have to go 1-bdrm if she wants a decent place with W/D in unit.

Personally I would not want to be stuck out in Bellevue. I would look at all of the fairly new complexes along Charlotte Avenue from about 25th to 50th. There are a number of new places and you would be about equidistant to Belmont or West Meade. Though $1,300 might be tough to do.

2700 Charlotte, Station 40, West 46th, The Shay

The other area to look is on 8th Ave. South. There are also a number of newer places along there, plus restaurants, etc. and that would be close to Belmont.

23Hundred at Berry Hill, Octave, IMT 8 South,

There are several apartment buildings around Belmont and in the Hillsboro Village area that should have one bedroom units for around $1300 or so, perhaps less if the building is older. I'd generally stick to east of Natchez Trace, south of Blakemore/Wedgewood, north of I440, and west of 12th. Another area to consider that's close to Belmont and West Meade, but not in walking distance is Green Hills. Its a fairly wealthy area, but there are some older apartments and condos that are affordable and in your price point. There aren't really any apartments in West Meade, and Bellevue is pretty boring and far from Belmont.

I'd recommend looking on Trulia or Zillow as a lot of the cheaper units are actually condos rented out by small time landlords.

You are smart to not trust virtual tours because I have had a friend get scammed by doing this.

I would suggest she contact the housing department at Belmont and see if they have any apartment resources or places available they can suggest.

I would suggest the hip brentwood and hip bellevue facebook groups. Never trust virtual tours or " "list sites like that. Scammers typically ask for up front deposits and make up sales pressure sob stories like "this is the last one, my grandmother lived here before we moved her to a nursing home, noticeable lack of empathy/compassion etc.

Check out The Lakes Bellevue, although it is actually closer to West Meade. It will be convenient to West Meade and is very safe. It’s beautiful and has an almost mountain feel in that area. I have family that lives there, and I have been very impressed.
