I have no doubt that Mary knows exactly what this stuff is. Undoubtedly stole some along with her milk, peaches and dead turkeys! .

Okay, I Googled it and found this recepie. Doesn't sound too bad to me. Actually sounds really good....well, at least this recepie does.

Ingredients
- 10 green figs

- cup chopped seasoning peppers
- chopped chives
- cup chopped chadon beni (cilantro)
- chopped onion
- 1 clove of garlic, chopped
- 1 cup black olives

I was at Publix this morning. They had two (maybe three) brands of chow-chow; one made by a company in White House, Tennessee. The one that looked the best was a brand called Braswell's of Georgia (or something like that). There were both hot and mild varieties.

Enjoy!

You can also get hot chow-chow at the flea market, which will be in town next weekend.

There is a man there who sells Amish food, including chow-chow, and it's very good. My husband loves "hot" foods, the hotter the better. Their chow-chow has his seal of approval.

Thank you all for the info. We had never heard of this stuff before we visited the Smokies this past week and picked up a jar of the hot stuff at one of the visitor information centers at the park. Put the stuff on a hotdog by itself and it really jazzed up the dog. We'll have to check out Publix for some more.

Artimis, exactly where will this flea market be next week?

Thanks again

It's at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds on Nolensville Road.

You can also get there via I-65 and get off at Wedgewood Ave, and go East. You'll run right into the parking lot.

Is that the same place as Farmers Market?

No, Farmer's Market is near downtown, within sight of the state capital building.
