I was looking on a website that shows "unique and historic" homes in Nashville, and I saw a few that were really cute and affordible ( my family lives in an apartment for now), but I'm wondering if they are located in a "bad area" of Nashville. Is "East Nashville" an area with a lot of crime? Some of the homes on the map were located in areas such as Inglewood, and other locations just west of the Opry Mills. Can anyone shed some light about these areas for me please? Thank you!

Traditionally, I believe East Nashville has been considered the area both east and west of the Cumberland River (the river make a U-shape) and bounded on the north somewhere near Trinity Lane. The Opryland area wouldn't be considered East Nashville to my way of thinking, although it is in the eastern part of Davidson County.

There are both good and bad parts of East Nashville. For a long time most of East Nashville had a bad rap for crime; not so much violent crime as crimes such as breaking into houses and cars and that sort of thing, and maybe as a neighborhood with more than its share of hoodlums. There are still some rough areas in East Nashville, so you have to know which is which. From what I've heard, parts of East Nashville have really improved in the past few years.
