We just moved here from California and I have a question. Is there any advantage to buying a deHumidifier?

Dehumidifiers are excellent for places like basements and bathrooms with no exterior windows. But I'm afraid if you try to use a dehumidifier in a room and still have the windows opened, it's an exercise in futility.
You might just have to turn on the a/c. If your home is well insulated the a/c probably won't actually cycle on very often except in the heat of the afternoon, but you're right that it will be MUCH more comfortable for you just having less humidity inside your home.

I would tend to agree with JMT. I have the AC on and set to 80 right now. It comes on often enough to keep the humidity down, without using too much power.

Guess there is not a lot of Pros or Cons.... ha ha ha.. I did some searching on them and I am thinking that just turning on the AC will do the trick. Coming from the Central Valley in Calif. high 80's are not bad temps but the humidity does get to me once in a while. But even then it is not that bad... Thanks for the inputs...

We would use a dehumidifier in our basement back up north but not in the living area of our ranch. The dehumidifer takes out the moisture but it sends out hot air so the room will be warmer. It's best to go with the ac to get rid of humidity and keep the air temp at a comfortable level.
