Hey,

I may have an opportunity in Nashville and would have to move myself and two horses.... I would have to rent a place initially. I realize I am looking for a needle in a hay stack here... but could one find a place to rent for roughly 1k outside the city somewhere? I don't know much about the area but i could commute obviously ... i would live in an apartment above a barn even for a while. I work in alcohol and drug addiction recovery and could have a great opportunity there that would be worth living in a smaller place or helping around a farm when not working.

I live ~65 miles SE of Nashville in an Ag county. The odds of finding something like that down here are very slim -- it would be something one would have to stumble across.

I imagine a personal property like that, near Nashville would be rare. Even if you were to find something, you would need to be careful of its surroundings

I am not familiar with the training and boarding barns up that way but I think your safest option is to Google "training and boarding barns near Nashville, TN". A lot of separate links came up, which is why I didn't post anything

It's possible anyone of them may know of a safe personal property, or it's possible one of them may have an apartment plus temporary board, or it's also possible they may take your two horses at a discount in exchange for some weekend work from you

One thing is for sure, if you find a place on the Thompson Station side of Nashville, you will be close to a great Equine clinic.

The closest big hospital is the extension at UT Knoxville

I have one fantastic farrier, if she would drive that far. She interned under Ric Redden when she got out of farrier school years ago and she also spent a year with a certified barefoot farrier.

I also know a great farrier a little closer to Nashville, who does travel, if your horses don't need serious corrective work. He shoed for me when I was hard trail riding and I never lost a shoe. He has a great temperament around the horses

I wish I had a better answer for you, hopefully someone with horses up that way will chime in.

Best of luck and safe journey if you do make the move

I asked a friend of mine who has a horse here in Franklin. Here is her response.

“In this area if he wants his horses to have a stall, he’s probably looking at $500 to $700 per month per horse. He could probably look toward Dickson County or Cheatham county and find something less expensive. It’s somewhat depends on what kind of horses he has and what he does with them. If he just wants a field where they can be turned out with no shelter, he might be able to find that more cheaply.
If you find out more specific information I’d be happy to see what I could find out for him.”
