Anything in Brentwood or on Edmonson Pike isn't near downtown. As people said, you are going to be hard pressed to find a place with just what you've specified. Rent here is high and Nashvile's pretty under-built as far as rentals go, IMO. More likely you can find something in your price range in East Nashville (yes, there are safe places), and they do have the Turnip Truck over there. Best places for riding/walking without having a car are Hillsboro Village and Green Hills. But they are also quite pricey.

I don't know much about Germantown, but it is likely to be cheaper than the two above.

You would also have access to Shelby Park/Bottoms in East Nashville which is a beautiful park with lots of walking trails. There's also a great dog park nearby. If your looking for the upstairs of a house or something like that I would look into the Lockeland Springs, Eastwood Neighbors area. Try Craigs List. Anyway, good luck wherever you end up.

They're cheap, but so are housing projects. The Edmondson Pike suggestion, however, is a good one, I would just look at other complexes besides this one. Try The Preserve or The Arbors of Brentwood.
My son ended up getting a job in Murfreesboro and an Apt there. It had an 85\% approval rating, and under $700 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Its off the Franklin side of 96. A less than 5 min drive to his job.

I'm confused. I posted about Bradford Woods because you mentioned a special they were having to the OP. I wasn't sure if you were aware that it is a pretty seedy complex, though there are several viable options in the Nippers Corner area. I'm not sure where this complex in Murfreesboro comes into play, but I'm glad your son is happy there. That is a good part of town and a great price!

Agree with others - Hillsboro Village sounds like your best option. There are many apts for rent in this area due to closeby universities. I lived at the Villager Condos on Hillsboro road, paid around $500 for a one bedroom, then moved to two bedroom where rent was $650. This was a few years ago, so you might check with the current manager on prices. This place had many units because most are owned and then rented out to grad students, etc.

The condos are on a bus route, and it is a walkable distance to Harris Teeter for groceries, to the Hillsboro area to shop and dine.
