Hi all. My family is relocating to the Nashville area in early July. I will be travelling back and forth to find a new home. Thus far, I have narrowed the locations to the following areas: Murfreesboro, Franklin, Thompson Station, Mt. Juliet. I am looking for some help here.

1. My children are high school age: 9th and 12th grade in the fall. Both are decent students. One is very social and the other is kind of a loner(12th grader).

2. Safe community

3. "Community" feel. We are coming from a smaller central NY area. We want to find someplace that has a distinct community feeling. A place where we can easily get involved and make new friends.

4. We are looking for a 3+ bedroom/2+ bath with a nice yard and patio. I also like the idea of the "Florida Room". Price up to $250,000.

5. Reasonable commute to Stewart Ferry Pike area.

Also, in regards to Murfreesboro- What areas are considered "prime": ie better school, lower crime, etc.

Any help would be great.

When you say "reasonable commute to Stewarts Ferry", how much time are you talking about? It's a bit of a drive from Thompson Station to Stewarts Ferry.

I recommend Mt Juliet, that is where we are moving. We saw many communities that had lots of people playing together. One community that might work is the Mount Vernon subdivision in Mt Juliet. We saw 3 homes there with about 2500 sq ft each on .5 acres. We also saw a great subdivision called Quad Oak Valley that is just off of Stewart's Ferry Pike in Mount Juliet. The home we really liked had a great yard, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and 2400 sq ft. It was 3 weeks away from being finished and it looked great. It was only $239,000.

Wherever you choose, remember to check the family watchdog or Megan's law site to see where any nearby sex offenders live/work.

Good luck with your move! Middle TN is a great place to live.

Default relocating

If you need any information,, we too relocated, from NYC with three children one in elementary, middle and High school.

It takes time for them to adjust, but now my children love it here.

Quad Oak Valley is a wonderful subdivision located in a wonderful community. We have lived here for 3yrs now and love it. Convenient to everything, great neighbors, very quiet. Can't complain about a thing! Good Luck.
