We may be moving to the Nashville area soon. My husband may be working downtown near Centennial Park. We would prefer to live in one of the suburbs and commute to work. We are considering Franklin and Hendersonville since both cities have excellent schools for our young children. Both cities are about an equal distance from the Centennial Park area. The question I have is: Which would be the easiest commute? Husband will be going to work at 7 AM and return at 5 PM each day. Would it be easier to commute from Hendersonville or Franklin? Any input would be appreciated.

No question here.....the commute from Hendersonville is hell. Actually, the commute from the Franklin side of town is the easiest of all.

Agreed on the commute! I've lived in Hendersonville and Brentwood (next to Franklin) and the commute from Franklin WINS HANDS DOWN!!

The commute from Hendersonville was brutal 20 years ago and it's still brutal today. I still sell homes in Hendersonville...but my opinion is buy in Williamson County if you are looking for the best commute!!

You might consider Rutherford County too.

Going to Nashville from Franklin/Brentwood isn't bad at all. Get a Hybrid car and you can probably use the carpool lane.

When you say that the commute is brutal, what do you mean? I am currently in San Diego and my husband and I are thinking of moving. He wants to be near the lake and I want to work in Nashville, we thought Hendersonville was the perfect middle ground. Although I most likely will not drive at the regular times because I am a hairstylist, but still how bad are we really talking and at what hours?

If you are not in rush hour, you can live anywhere! Hendersonville is a great community, traffice is fine except in the traditional 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm.

Default trust me......

As I've written before, when moving here from NorCal I thought I knew enough about the area from a few quick working trips and online research to pick a house. Wrong! We bought in Hendersonville and were lucky to get out of it and buy in Franklin. We are so thankful we did. Not that Hville is a bad place-it's not- just a sucky commute. Moving to Franklin was so easy. Great town. I wish it was more open-minded, of course, but you can't have everything

Best of luck!!
