I love the beauty of the area and how you can go from right in the middle of it all to being in the middle of nowhere via a short drive. This history here is fascinating and overall, it is a very clean city. This applies to most, but not all of the metro area as well.

I know that wasn't 10 things, but what would be YOUR personal 10 LOVES?

The gracious hospitality of the people
Easy access to almost everywhere/Ease of living in the Nashville area
The natural beauty every where
It's laid back
Cost of living is low compared to a lot of other places and one can have a good quality of life in the area.
Local Restaurant Scene
Music Scene
Traveling in & out of BNA is a breeze compared to a lot of other airports

There's other things, but those come to mind first!

The curves in the streets and the rise and fall of the hills. This gives us different perspectives along any route around the city. LOL... it also contributes to the confusing streets too (Okay, so I love that too). In my former home of Dallas, the views were pretty much the same from all directions around the city... flat and fairly dull. This is not to bash Dallas, which we enjoyed thoroughly, but we really were glad to return to the green hills of TN.

I remember when my cousin came to visit from SF a few years ago. We were walking from a parking lot into a grocery store and a young woman smiled and said hi and we both commented about the perfect weather that day. As we got into the store my cousin asked if she lived in our neighborhood. She was shocked when I told I had never seen her before.

Now, I love SF, but I also LOVE how we can be genuinely friendly here without suspicion.

Other loves include:

Rich history
My amazing garden
Beautiful weather
Green, green, green!
The farmer's market nearby
BNA
Low cost of living (compared to other places we've lived)
Variety of live music
Access to hiking trails
Preds!!

Happy 2010, City Data friends!

Thank God for positive threads.

I love Nashville's character. It's "skyline" has COLOR. It's got its own claim-to-fame and there is always something going on in the city. I LOVE Nashville's hills and lakes. It's not as breathtaking as a foothills or mountain town, but it's PRETTY and varied. I love its central location to so many other cities via car or air. I love Nashville's energy. I love Nashville's promise.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Several of our folks here in East TN go there for excellent care with their complicated healthcare issues.

Yep. Up here, Vanderbilt is "the" serious hospital.
