My husband's job is necessitating that we move to Clarksville, where he works. We currently live in Nashville (West Meade area off of Davidson Rd.), and I am FROM here, born and raised. I've never lived anywhere else, so I am a bit worried about how I will do living in Clarksville. Is it VERY different from Nashville, aside from the obvious things like less shopping and fewer good restaurants? We will be living on Sango Rd, kinda between exit 11 and 19. Any advice on good preschools, as my daughter will be in PreK this fall? I guess I'm just looking for opinions on how different Clarksville REALLY is from Nashville, so I can be prepared. Thanks!

Well, for the preschool, I would suggest checking out 'The Little Country Schoolhouse' off Exit 11 and Highway 76:

There is no doubt that Clarksville is different from Nashville, but I think you will come to love it as we do. 45 minutes to Vanderbilt from Exit 11 - many commute daily.

Thanks! We actually already have that Little Country Schoolhouse bookmarked online, and will be callign them this week. We had heard good things about it from someone else as well. One other question: Where would you recommend going for a swimming pool? Is there a Y there with a pool? I have heard BAD things about the public swimming pools, and would like to know ahead of time if we will need to join a facility in order to swim. With two young kids, pool access is a must for us.

There is a Y located between Memorial and Madison Street. They have a nice sized pool. While you can certainly find properties in Clarksville that are for sale that have a pool, you need to know going into it what the maintenance, costs and liabilities are.
