Does anyone know of a good endocrinologist in the metro Nashville area? Thanks!

I work with a couple of guys who should know of someone, but they've left for the day (I would have left too but I've got a project to get out). They're both pretty fussy, so whoever they go to is probably good.

I'll ask them tomorrow.

Thank you alleycat! I am fussy too and when it comes to your health, you need to be fussy.

Steve,

It would help to know what type of condition you need an endo for. Some endos focus more on diabetes others focus on thyroid issues, etc.

Forgot to add...Julie Hendrix is in Franklin. There are also a few great sites that give recommendations based on people's experiences with getting the thyroid treated. I know it can be difficult to get proper treatment for a thyroid issue. Some acutally end up at an internal med doc b/c the endo's can be so focused on the TSH test whereas some people feel that they get better treatment having their Free T3 and Free T4 being the main focus, not the TSH. There are some good books out there too that might help you. Are we allowed to post book names here?

I asked my two friends (both with diabetes). I got the name of a doctor from one of them, but it's wasn't a glowing recommendation; more like, "Well, this is who I go to. She's okay." The other friend used to go to the endocrinology group at Vanderbilt but said he now mostly relies on his internal medicine physician. His "complaint" or comment about the Vandy group was that every time he went in they would want him to see the dietitian, then the nurse practitioner, then the doctor, then run tests, etc. For him he thought this was more than he needed for his condition, but it might be just what you're looking for.

Sorry I wasn't of more help.

Dr. Weirum in Babtist Medical center. He helped me with a tumor on my thyroid and got me fixed up and going. His bedside manner could be worked on, but I guess no ones perfect. He's still pretty good.
