Yeah...it would be a shame if a state instituted common-sense protections.
Yes, it definitely would. Even though humans have taken over the world and are destroying it, heaven forbid anyone protect anything other than a human.
One day, the only other animal anyone will ever see will be other humans
There was a guy in Seattle who stepped out to pick up the paper on his driveway. He looked up and across the street in front of the park, there was a cougar. Five miles from downtown Seattle. I guess there's greenbelts that lead into the city and this cat just followed one of those till he couldn't go any further.

WA, OR, and BC probably have the highest concentration of mountain lions in the west. Its not surprising that they have come that far into the city. Chicago has even had a few running around right outside the city limits.
Once saw a large mountain lion along the Central Coast near Pt. Conception. We were driving on a trail when he crossed in front of us, leaped upon a fence, and sprung off into the scrub.
Another time, while hiking in the Sierras, I followed mountain lion tracks for over 5 miles, from 8300' down to 5000' where I came upon a herd of cattle grazing near a pond. For the lion it was free steak on the hoof, all you can eat - carryout only. For the rancher it was a huge loss. The cow? Well let's just say that it had a very bad day.
