I have always loved the ocean, since I was a child. I also love the mountains, but climbing isn't for me.*

Well, I live 5 minutes from the ocean and love it but if I had the $$$ I'd likely move to somewhere the mountains go right up to the coast, I love mountain weather. I was in Lake Tahoe one year in June and it was 28F in the morning and 95F in the afternoon.

Mountains all the way.

They're like looking to heaven.

While I love the ocean, if I could pick a place to live, it would be in the mountains.

Both equally, but it depends on the exact location. I would not like to live in SoCal even if I had a $10 million waterfront home in Laguna Beach, and I was not happy living in the foothills west of Denver, either.

Also, come to think of it, I prefer a mountain view to living "in" the mountains -- and whether ocean view or mountain view, I would could only be happy living in a true four-seasons climate.

Mountains. Views of both are great, but I prefer colder cloudier mountain climates to the beach and I fry like a fish there. Living in mountains doesn't mean I have to climb them. Went through that phase in college. My knees knew long before the rest of me did that mountaineering wasn't going to be my thing .

Mountains for me. I like the ocean in small doses but it's just too vast and boundless for my comfort. Mountains are cozier.

I couldn't choose. I've always lived with both and feel like I love and need both.

I love the ocean, but there is so much more to do in the mountains.

Ocean >>>> Mountains.

Mountains are beautiful but I bore of them quickly. Meanwhile, I am drawn to the ocean like a magnet. If only I lived closer to one. I am about 8 hours to the coast. So my consolation prize is the mountains.
