I'm in Alaska and swears by Cabela's. Is it worth it to travel to one of their stores to see it? I'm going on vacation at the end of the month, a road trip to Montana/Wyoming/possibly Nebraska. I've always wanted to visit one of the retail stores. Thanks.

While we're waiting for an answer if there is one in Neb., I just wanted to let you know there is one in Mitchell, So. Dak. Many people love the store. They do have a beautiful display of the wild with waterfalls, etc., HUGE fish tanks, and the cutest little stream that runs by the tables of the cafeteria. But since I'm not a hunter and I don't fish, it doesn't appeal to me. (Just personal choice) We did have some friends here from NJ and they thought it was awesome.

I know people spend hours in that store. Especially if you're into what they're selling. I've been to the one in Kearney and that's it. The flagship store is in Sydney, there's one in Kearney, and one in Omaha. Omaha also has a Bass Pro Shop.

You can go online and locate a store. They now have them in several locations out of Nebraska. I don't know where they are all at, but I have been in the ones in Nebraska and one in Texas. All of them are about the same so it does not matter where you go. I for one would hope that you go the first one and main store in Sidney, Nebraska. Here is their web site for you:

Cabela's Official Website - Quality Hunting, Fishing, Camping and Outdoor Gear at competitive prices.

Well DTO is wrong again. The Base Pro is in Council Bluffs Iowa not Omaha. I am sure that the people on the Iowa side of the river would take issue with it being in Omaha on the map. Having been in the Cabela's in Omaha and some other locations there are others that are nicer than the Omaha store. There is nothing WRONG with the store in Omaha it is just that the choice was made to make this a smaller location than some.
If you are making ht trip to just go to their store then by all means go to Sydney. IF you are in Omaha for other reasons then the Omaha store is a nice stop and you will not be disappointed.

we have been to the one in Fort worth texas....if you are into hunting and fishing, you will feel like you have landed in heaven. also if you are a camper you will enjoy looking around...as for us, we do not hunt or fish, but enjoyed the set up of the place, such as animal displays, the indoor archery range, home made fudge and goodies for sale, and looking at the people that shopped there..the highlight of the day was listening to the two classic, stereotypical looking hunters, walking across the parking lot, making animal sounds at each other...

I have been to the one in Sydney, Kearney, Omaha, Mitchel, & Kansas City.

Sydney, NE & Mitchel, SD are my favorites for sure. Kearney's tent sales are hard to beat if you can make it to one of those I will say that.

Take no offense here our neighbors to the east, but that Bass Pro Shop is a joke in my book. I have been to one down in Missouri and that was something, but the one in CB is missing the boat.

Sorry but I have to laugh here a bit, you are from Alaska and going on vacation to Montana/Wyoming/maybe Nebraska? What I wouldn't give to get up your way sometime, what a beautiful state. Not saying the other states you mentioned aren't nice, but Alaska!

Agree on the Bass Pro in CB. It is no where near the Sprinfield MO store. Not even in the same league

The Cabela's is fun to go to and see all the mounts and things. But for shopping we go to Sportsman's Warehouse, better selection and much more affordable. I believe there's one in Casper but I don't know where else.
