How is living n Scottsbluff? Are you familiar with that area? I have a 14 yr old boy and don't want him to be bored to death. He is real into sports, hockey, football...

Scottsbluff is a nice town to live in I'm not sure about stats you're looking for but crime rate much lower than national average. High School sports is big in this area and your son would I'm sure have a great time here. Be prepared for a small town though you may have to hunt a little for activities but with a little guidance from schools or maybe a civic or church organization you should be able to find some fun things to do.

i have not lived there, i live in n c nebraska where it is pretty rural. one thing about scottsbluff is it is pretty windy out there, drier climate, a fairly large hispanic base (btw my sis in law is mexican so dont think im bashing ppl... its just an observation), ppl i think are pretty friendly, what i have seen of them. ( i drove a truck for years to all 48 states and all of lower canada from bc to nova scotia. (if its on a map, ive probably been there even if its a small town.) ppl in the midwest are pretty friendly. oh, not as many trees as some parts of the US and other parts of nebr. dry edible beans, grains, and potatoes are raised out there. maybe with an old west feeling . gearing is the other town that overlaps with it. if u like wide open spaces and a sence of being in the sw part of the us, that might be a great comparison for it. i think i wud give it a thumbs up if you dont mind being in a somewhat rural setting with sparce vegitation. being pretty flat, it doesnt have much problems with snow drifts like the mnts in colo. in sc u have more vegitation, more humidty and rain. not sure if there is any kind of drug problem or the like..... being bored is what u make of ur situation, um as a kid i dont think its so much where u live but if u use what is available to you..... im sure kids in nyc say there isnt anything to do ....... as far as romance, well ull probably have to work to find someone, this isnt alaska..... lol do a demographic search of the city. it will tell u median age, income, housing costs, crime rates and the like.......there are a lot of good sites, some have pictures of the area... do a google for scottsbluff and see what the area LOOKS like, see if u like that.... hope this helps!

I was born in Scottsluff, NE. I now live in Kansas City, MO. It is Beautiful there. I still have family there and I visit when I can and enjoy the small town qualities of Gering and Scottsbluff. I will be visiting for a month in Scottsbluff this summer. I am very much looking forward to it. No clogging traffic, no Metropolitan City noises. I've often thought about moving back, Denver is close and the mountains are close. When I'm back there this summer, I will be checking out houses, apts, etc. They want 115,000.00 for a very small house around the corner from me. Detached Garage, 2 bdrm, 1 bath and no backyard! It is insane! This is a very old neighbourhood. We watch ewach others houses, but we are all gone during the day, and I still keep my door locked at night. The crime rate here ~ gang activity, drive by shootings, road rage, random killings, molestations, child porn, rapes, violence, remember PRECIOUS DOE? I went by that park where she was found morning and night when I worked downtown, burglaries, robberies, the worst of heinous crimes are committed here ~ Yea, the crime rate here is VERY high and pretty scary.

SB very nice town
I live across the border in Torrington, Wyoming and my family and I travel to Scottsbluff frequently. The "sandhill" people there are incredibly friendly and welcoming to newcomers. The shopping is pretty good for a rural, uncrowded town. Someone posted that you should look out for the wind - maybe it's because I'm from WY (one of the least windiest in WY) but my response would be "wind, what wind?" Great town to raise kids - your son would find plenty to do.

That is so nice! I used to live in Denver and my ex husband hunted alot in Wyoming and Colorado. I'm thinking I may decide to move back after my vacation. Seriously - I love that tri-state area...my only child is a cat named Chloe. She'd love it too! lol

I'm retiring in about 3 years and am looking to move west (I'm currently in NY). I've pretty much narrowed my search to NE and Scottsbluff sounds great so far. My oldest son (25) also wants to leave NY. He has a 2 month old baby and wants her to grow up in a nicer environment than NY can provide. I'll still want a part time job but I'm very flexible. He works in PC Richards as an automobile alarm,remote start,stereo installer. He does custom stereo installs too. Are there any stores or shops of that type in Scottsbluff? I'd love to have him move and be near us. Thank you all in advance. There are some very helpful people here.

We've lived near Scottsbluff for about five years now, and we really like it. I work in Scottsbluff but drive in from a neighboring town. High school sports are definitely "hot" around here, and the local community college seems to put together good teams as well. I know they were the #1 rated volleyball team for a while, and think they've only lost a couple of games all season.
The quality of life here has been tremendous for our kids. The older ones haven't had a problem fitting in. As for things to do, we find that there has always been something going on if you know where to look. And, for that big city fun, Denver is only three hours away.
The crime rate is fairly low when compared to metro areas... we have a few petty thefts, but relatively quiet evenings.
Our favorite part -- the scenery. It's not that flat around here. We love the views of the rivers with the bluffs in Wildcat Hills behind them. One of the catch-phrases says Scottsbluff is the foothills of the foothills of the Rockies. Not that flat -- not that rugged.
