The new census data for Nebraska and the US has been updated through 2008. It shows an increased acceleration of population gains in metropolitan and micropolitan cities in the state. 80.8% of all Nebraskans now live in a Census Bureau delineated metropolitan or micropolitan county. 19.2% of Nebraskans live in a rural non-metropolitan or non-micropolitan county.
The fastest growing county based on percentages was Sarpy, on the southside of the Omaha MSA. The fastest declining county based on percentages was Blaine, in the sandhills region.
