We have bought a house in the Mountain Falls subdivision and need to know which internet providers are available for that area. I'm hoping to get 10Mbps or higher internet speed but it seems that is not possible anywhere in Pahrump. We are from Columbus, OH and regularly get 20Mbps download speeds with Time Warner Cable. If you can provide me with a list of providers in Pahrump that would be greatly appreciated. I cannot seem to find many companies who provide high speed internet for Pahrump.

I was hoping for Verizion FiOS but they do not service Pahrump. Any suggestions for providers who you find reliable and trustworthy?

living in Mtn Falls you should be get AT&T DSL (they don't cover all of Pahrump valley). Have you checked with the Verizon store? They've got a device, not sure if it is the FIOS, but they do have internet coverage.

The other options would be AirInternet (they've changed hands, not sure what their new name is now); there is also.....shoot I forget the name of them now but they have a billboard next to Spring Mtn raceway - it's a picture of a turtle with a rocket on his shell. KeyOn is another provider (I've heard good & bad about them). After that, there's always WidlBlue or HughesNet (I will NOT ever go back to HughesNet).

Lemme know if you've got other questions. I'm right here in town

cre8lite Thank you for your help. AT&T does offer DSL and TV (Dish) for our new home. I chatted with Verizion just a moment ago and they do not offer any services for our home. I've read about Air Internet but they have a really shoddy website, no information about speeds or anything and monthly costs associated with service. I know there is a huge startup cost for equipment and installation but they never mention if it can be used by everyone in the house or if it's just for one computer. I did email them and they never got back to me a couple of months ago, so I'm really not wanting to go that route.

I googled the turtle and rocket advertisement and it may be Comcast but I've heard awful things about Comcast on their facebook page as well as other places online about billing and service interruptions that occur every day.

KeyOn is not called KeyOn anymore but something else and I've also read may bad things about them. I'll check WildBlue and HughesNet right now. If I may ask, why will you never go back to HughesNet? What problems did you encounter?

Oh and the AT&T DSL only goes up to 6Mbps and we are accustomed to speeds of 20-25Mbps here where we are currently. So that would really suck. But yeah, I'll take what I can get I guess.

Oh man that stinks. HughesNet will only allow you to download up to 20GB of data per month. And 10GB of that can only be used between 2am and 8am. That's screwed up. Ugh. So yeah that is out of the question. And WildBlue is not accepting new accounts to be opened in my area at the current time. I don't know their bandwidth allowances. So it appears that we will be going with AT&T DSL. They allow up to 150GB per month. We regularly use a minimum of 45GB per month. Sometimes as high as nearly 100GB.

Although there is no FiOS in Pahrump (or in Nevada, period), Verizon does have 4G LTE coverage now in Pahrump.

The "device" that Cre8lite was referring to may be a mifi router that is very popular nowadays. I have mifi using the Verizon Wireless network and in 4G LTE areas, I get download speeds of around 20 Mbps and just did a "speedtest.net" as we speak and got 22.97 Mbps.

Mifi is good because it's portable (wireless). I travel a lot and am on the road quite a bit so it works well for me. I subscribe through Millenicom and it's about $69/month for 20GB. That may be pricey for home use but if you move around and need multiple connections (router), then it works great and is not a bad price at all for that convenience.

If you're interested, let me know and I can explain it further.

eta: oops, nevermind. I didn't read your last post closely. Verizon Wireless won't work for your as you are using too much bandwidth. disregard.

Wow. I just found 4g verizon pricing for internet using the jetpack. That is outrageous! $355 for 50GB of data per month. There is no way we could afford that with me being disabled and unable to work, and both of my parents retired. Dang. So it appears we will have to go with AT&T DSL 6Gbit.

I'm currently in a chat with a verizon salesperson. They said "
Steph Y.: I don't think you would need the 50GB. I know someone that uses internet constantly and they don't go over 12GB data."

LOL how funny. She's trying to get me to sign up for it in the hopes we go way over our allotment and then have to pay thousands of dollars per month for overages. Not going to happen. Ugh. Anyway.

Yep DSL it is

LOL just saw your edit. Yeah. Oh well. I guess I'll have to get used to slow internet until somehow major companies come in with good cable internet with higher speeds.

welcome to pahrump - high speed internet is not an easy thing to get. i remembered the name for the turtle advertisement was wave direct. fairly new company in town, maybe a year old??? i know they were working on getting more bandwidth, but i have no idea how fast or how much it costs.

as for hughesnet......i had issues with my webpages loading funky. i had their equipment about 6 months at that point. i quickly learned that tech support was india. after many phone calls - i asked for a tech support person to come out to my house, they refused. i offered to PAY for a tech support guy to come out to my house, they refused. they told me various things like, the problem was with my monitor (it's a brand new computer). the problem is with the computer (don't think so). the problem is with my video card (try again). i figured out what the problem was by myself (the router would over heat after being on for ~2 weeks) & then had to wait for my 2 yr contract to finish before i could dump them ASAP. when i called to cancel? they asked why - i'm sorry, it's right there in front of you why i'm cancelling. your customer service & tech support departments suck. what did they do? they offered me a year of free service. you've got to be kidding me. i have put up with crappy equipment for 2 yrs & NOW you want to offer me something free?!?!? why didn't you offer to replace my router 2 yrs ago? o we couldn't do that because everything was fine on our end

NEVER EVER will i use them again
