I am just wondering whether it is legal for a NC resident to do this? I wanted to bring one along, but haven't decided on whether to bring mine to the airport or purchase one there? (since I was in the market for a 2nd one) Some friends and I are planning on going to the desert to shoot and just wanted to be prepared, perhaps I could save some effort lugging it from Raleigh. There's also a gun show that weekend so I didn't know if that's my play, either from a dealer "new" or from a private transaction.

The rifle I'm looking for is a Mosin Nagant 91/30 incase anyone is interested in knowing.

If you have your C&R license, then yes its 100% legal. Bring your paperwork and you should be good to go. Not sure if you will have to fill out the 4473, but with a C&R you can purchase C&R eligible weapons over state lines.

If not it MIGHT be legal.. or you may need to have the dealer ship it to an FFL In your state to do the transfer (Which would not work out well if you want to shoot it while in Nevada)

It is lawful for any law biding citizen to purchase any LONG ARMS in ANY state. The only stipulation is that the purchase must be legal in BOTH states.

IE. if your state of residence requires a permit or firearms I.D. card, than you would have to produce the permit in Nevada in order for the purchase to be legal.

BTW. The interstate purchase of handguns is a big no-no. For this to occur, you would have to have a pistol or revolver shipped to an FFL in your home state, and complete any lawful transaction there.

Also note, the purchase of long arms is NOT dependant on those items being on the C&R list. You are eligible to purchase any modern firearm again so long as it is legal in BOTH states.
