This might be a story for gay couples thinking about a move to Las Vegas might want to keep an eye on.

While state lawmakers are attempting to make life better for their gay constituents, our governor is threatening a veto. Luckily, there may be enough votes to over-ride his ignorance. We'll see what happens.

Here is the story...

Nevada has a pretty sharp Governor, or so it would appear...

No we don't, we have a short-sighted, do-nothing idiot. I can almost guarantee you if asked why he would veto it he would say "I love and respect gay people, but my budget analyst told me we couldn't afford it." Soon he'll say lets stop teaching 11th and 12th grade because its just too expensive.

Maybe he is doing what his constituents elected him to do. As far as 11th and 12th grade; I've seen better computer programs--for free. So yes, go ahead and close the schools--they stink, badly.

The voters voted overwhelmingly to ban same-sex marriage only a few years ago. This would seem to be an end run around the wishes of the people.

Remember, the government is supposed to be a representative one. If the people are against something and the government finds some way to weasel it through against the wishes of the populace then they are not acting as representatives and instead as rulers.

Let the government represent the will of the people. If you want it changed you can lobby the people of your state to vote accordingly.

We are not talking about same sex marriage. This is civil unions. And lets say everyone in Nevada voted that black people should not be allowed to get married... that would not make it right.

Gay marriage would be a boon to the LV and Reno economies.

What a short sighted political move.
