I got a request earlier today to post my annual "Christmas TV Specials" list. Putting that together got me thinking that in years gone by, we also shared info about local craft fairs, parades, etc. that so many newcomers would probably like to get to, if only they knew about them. While we're getting a late start this year, here it is again, all wrapped up in 1 thread: the annual Christmas and Holiday Thread. I'll start the fun by posting the TV specials in the next post

If I've missed any that you know about, please post! And I know that The Christmas Story will be shown on TBS multiple times on Christmas Day. Just not sure of what time it'll be on from--till (marathon).
I realized as I was making the list that Christmas Specials had already begun. Guess I'll have to do this at Thanksgiving next year, instead of for December 1. I already missed 3 of my favorites Frosty the Red-Nosed Reindeer and How the Grinch Stole Christmas were shown at 8 PM last night, on competing stations. That's just WRONG (BOO to ABC and CBS!) and It's a Wonderful Life was on NBC at 9 PM. It's being shown again, 8 PM Christmas Eve (NBC) AND just noticed that The Christmas Story marathon starts at the same time on TBS. For a no-TV girl, now I have something to look forward to
I know of a GREAT Christmas light display! In Candia off of Old Candia Road (Exit 3 off of Route 101). It's the street right by the overpass and they do this phenomenal (sp?) display each year set to music. You drive up in front of their house, park, tune your radio to the station they specify (they have signs displayed) and listen to the music as you watch the light show! : ) It's wonderful and my son and I go every year with hot chocolate to watch it. It usually lasts about 8-10 minutes and they run it every 20 mins-1/2 hour or so. They did a display for Halloween also and asked for donations for the Candia Food Pantry. : )
thanks, Val! oo - I need to re-record the Winnie the Pooh Christmas. Wish I could get the Wind in the Willows-Mole's Christmas but they don't seem to show it much. The muppets used to do a good one that I'd like to re-record (messed up the very beginning) and it's different from what they released on dvd.
It's odd: I have most of my favorites on dvd, but there's still something special about watching them on tv!
BTW: another <cough> Christmas special on BBCAmerica on Dec 25- Dr Who Christmas Special! This is the first year that it will be shown both here and UK at the same time (usually we have to wait for the christmas special).

Christmas Fair at Greenland Congregational Church this Saturday (12/4) from 9-2. Santa arrives at 10 am. Cookie Walk, crafts, hot turkey sandwich plates, Silent Auction. Low-cost, old-fashioned holiday fun.
Live Reindeer at the Hudson Mall on Route 102 on 12/12. Starts at 10am, reindeer show at 11am. There will be horse-drawn rides, hot cocoa, raffles, etc. This also happens on 12/18 at East Side Plaza on Hanover St in Manchester...same times.
