I'm considering taking a job in Keene in living in Nashua. Google maps tells me that it is about 1 hour and 18 minutes, and from the specific location in Nashua to the specific location in Keene 1 hour and 34 minutes. This seems to be a really long commute. Does this sound reasonable? Or is it actually much shorter?
How fast can you go on 101 without the fear of getting a ticket? Ideally I wouldn't want an hour and a half commute. Also, during the Winter how well is 101 plowed, would it take me significantly longer to get there?
Agree with the previous posters. The drive will get very old very quickly. I travel Manchester to Keene once a week (similar distance and mostly on 101) and I would not want to do it daily. Lots of things to slow you down and make the trip take longer-
School buses
Tractor trailers
Traffic lights (especially on both ends of the trip)
Weather
There are only a few opportunities to pass and some of them are in tricky spots. If I were going to Keene everyday, I would not live much further east then Peterborough (about a 30 minute drive to Keene). I do know someone who does Nashua to Keene everyday, but I would not want to do it.
man, that would be anulgy ocmmute IMO! and there are so many traffic lights on 101 in Nashua. and cutting through the enter of town in Milford.... ick!!!!!
Yeah... I live about 30 minutes closer to Keene, and I rejected the possibility of taking classes at Keene State. The drive is long and over mountains, which is BEAUTIFUL, but would be rather dangerous on a wintery, icy day. Even if you are the best of drivers, chances are the others on that road are not!
Too long for most sane people. 101 over Temple Mountain (just east of P'boro) can be very bad during storms and occasionally is closed. Snow removal in NH is generally excellent, but some things can't be fixed. Keene's a nice place, but has incredibly high property taxes.
Yes, definitely the road from Nashua to Keene is "a hard road to travel".
