My partner and I are considering a move to New Hampshire. We both love the mountains, but his office will be located in Lebanon. Can anyone recommend a town between Lebanon and the White Mountains? We're looking for a short commute to work with mountain views at home. Thanks!

Springfield or Sunapee. Good access to 89 and a short drive to Lebanon/Hanover/White River Junction. Other good picks would be Enfield or Canaan. However, Canaan tends to have a more rural feel with mostly gravel roads.
Great information, thanks! Do many of those cities have town squares? I'm from the Midwest and would be sad to be without one.
Is commuting practical in NH winters?
Sunapee has a nice town center right by the lake. Springfield doesn't have much of a center. Main roads are always cleared of snow pretty quickly unless it's a major storm. NH is nothing like the Midwest in terms of town layout and the roads aren't on a PLSS grid, but I'm sure you know that. Rural driving takes some getting used to as one often has to look for landmarks instead of road signs to know if you're going the right way
Sunapee has become extremely expensive thanks to all the transplants from Mass who have built their little mini McMansions on the lake. If you enjoy boating it's a good place to live. There is also a ski resort on Mt Sunapee. Enfield is more of a real NH town without the expensive touristy stuff.

Enfield is pretty pricy as well, though.
