Both the Arctic Oscillation and North Atlantic Oscillation are in their positive phases. That isn't good for any sustained cold or snow in the Northeast. I'm not seeing much in the way of accumulating snows in the medium range or longer range. The above average trend will continue, unforunately,. Not good for winter recreation.

Where did you get that figure? I have a 2400 square foot home, have already prebought the oil I need for the winter season and it didn't come close to 3300.

Hey, looks like we might get our Christmas snow afterall!

WMUR just said a couple inches possible from late tomorrow night into Friday morning and it should be cold enough to stay. Not enough to do much with, but at least it will look like Christmas.

Yes, lots of savings from using less heating oil. That is the major positive at the moment. I am worrying about the upcoming Spring sugaring season if this mild snowless weather continues. It likely won't be as good as last year.

The average family will pay $3300 to heat the home with oil this winter in New England, according to the National Energy Assistance Directors’ Association. That’s about $500 more than last winter.
