Luckily for me, I don't want or need an acre of land. Just something small that I don't have to shovel the sidewalks or cut the grass...guess that means a townhome or condo, since I find no high rises in this State!

I echo the Seacoast Area. Hang out at the lounge at the Wentworth in New Castle-- and you're bound to see about 3 millionaires per minute.

Other rich enclaves: Abenaki Golf Course, Philbrick's Market, York Harbor Inn, Wentworth Country Club..

"you're bound to see about 3 millionaires per minute"

they are billionaires now. no state income tax makes NH very popular with the wealthy. They can afford the hefty property taxes that don't even compare to what other states would charge for an income tax.

Tootsie, New Castle is BEAUTIFUL, very high end. Portsmouth, Rye, other communities on the seacoast are fantastic as well. As someone noted, the rich and richer don't hang as Hampton Beach. The nice thing about the area is the accessibility to Boston, and southern Maine playspots like Ogunquit, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, etc.

If I can help you by supplying listings with details & addresses, just let me know And just so you know... there's nothing available in New Castle under $600,000. HAVE FUN!!

Suzette - I, too, was kidding. I think I was kidding anyway?

TW - anywhere from the Portsmouth, NH region to Portland, Maine is millionaire row. Old New England money has infested the place for a couple of hundred years. We were visiting in Portland last Sunday and it seemed to be quite and active community even after the summah people has left. Yeah, Wentworth by the Sea really is something else.

A guy friend of mine went to Portland, Maine to work. When his company finally started taking money for taxes out, he was gone within 3 months! BUT he did say what a great city it was!
Anyway, I am interested in ONLY living in good old tax free NH. I will pay the higher property taxes (I lived in Houston for 22 years, which is the #2 highest property tax rates in the nation). NH is safe! Texas is not, for the most part (Austin is the exception).
I'm getting stoked about living in this area. It meets many of my criteria, and, much to my surprise, all the people on this NH board seem logical, friendly and caring...good qualities you look for in people. I'm impressed, frankly!
I have heard such negative comments on Bostonians that it had me pretty skeptical, but NH people must be different?
