So why is she so attracted to Hanover over all the other towns in northern NH? Well I strongly suggest that you and your wife FIRST search to see what the job market in the Hanover area would be like for you based on your current job skills. Find out what those jobs are paying, then you can determine what you can pay for rent in that area. Secondly, search craigslist to see what rents are like in the Hanover area. And don't forget the high heating bills in the wintertime.
Miu,

Dartmouth in Hanover NH has a very large medical center with branches all over NH. That was my suggestion for looking for medical coding jobs. The Dartmouth Med Ctr has their jobs posted online... very easy to see what is available. Also lots of doctor's offices near the medical center.

You don't have to live in Hanover -- very pretty place but super expensive, although their property tax is among the lowest in NH. There are reasonable/moderate homes across the river in White River Junction, Hartford, Queeche, Sharon, etc. And VT has a property tax discount for lower-income families (although some posters on this forum will tell you it will be changing soon.)

vermont tax info

There's also a VA hospital in White River Junction.

Reading is fundemental.

Working in Hanover gives one a LOT of flexibility in living arrangements- as was said, all the way out to Sharon, VT...places like Cornish, NH, north to Woodsville...lots of places to have a bit of land, a fenced yard, and a backyard range Rents are expensive to my eye, though. I have a (very small) cabin within commuting distance of Hanover and spend as much time as I am able to up that way. Hypertherm is a larger employer in the area that I know of...

And in the area you are right at the junction of two Interstates.....

Working in Hanover you can shoot down 89 towards Concord and find lots of places that would be awesome to call home.

As was said, well paying jobs may be harder to nail down. Good luck!
