So why is she so attracted to Hanover over all the other towns in northern NH? Well I strongly suggest that you and your wife FIRST search to see what the job market in the Hanover area would be like for you based on your current job skills. .

Reading is fundemental.
Working in Hanover gives one a LOT of flexibility in living arrangements- as was said, all the way out to Sharon, VT...places like Cornish, NH, north to Woodsville...lots of places to have a bit of land, a fenced yard, and a backyard range
Rents are expensive to my eye, though. I have a (very small) cabin within commuting distance of Hanover and spend as much time as I am able to up that way. Hypertherm is a larger employer in the area that I know of...
And in the area you are right at the junction of two Interstates.....
Working in Hanover you can shoot down 89 towards Concord and find lots of places that would be awesome to call home.
As was said, well paying jobs may be harder to nail down. Good luck!
