Oh, gosh... I'm sorry. You did say Columbus Day weekend. I am confused.

Haha, no problem.

It is a holiday (of sorts) weekend, however, so traffic is a concern, though.

Not sure this is what you want to here but probably by Columbus day weekend most of the beautiful colors will have gone especially on the kanc, Because of the high altitude but the view will still be amazing. They got hard frost up in the north country early this year and when I talked to my mother earlier this week most of the red colors are gone. (She lives in Bath NH off RT 112). I have lived in the white mountains most of my life and Polly's pancake parlor is known to be something to avoid this time of year because of all the tourists. It is also the last weekend for Polly's and being a holiday weekend I would get there as early as possible. The Kanc would be a long drive. I would maybe recommend this. Rt 93 North through Franconia notch, exit 38, Rt 117 (Pollys pancake parlor) then finish the drive on rt 117 through Sugar Hill to Rt 302. Head west on RT 302 which will bring you through Bath NH which has the countries oldest general store and longest covered bridge. Don't forget to buy some homemade Fudge and smoked cheese. Continue on Rt 302 to Rt 112. This is kinda the first leg of the Kancamangus highway. Follow Rt 112 to Rt 3 in Woodstock NH. Take rt 3 though the Lakes region of NH. Lakes Region will probably have your best color for foliage during Columbus day weekend. I would be happy answer any questions for you.
