I live in Hudson where we do not have public kindergarten. Can anyone recommend or have any input as the kindergartens in Hudson, Londonderry, Litchfield area.? I have visited a few but I am getting so overwhelmed! I'm looking for 4 hours but I would consider others if I felt comfortable.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
With the outlook being that Kindergarten will not become available to us paresnt of 4yrs olds entering as of September (as 5yr olds) in the town of Litchfield, I have taken steps to have my child enrolled at a school in manchester. Little Frogs and Polliwogs has been around for about 25-30 yrs. The staff is wonderful and my child is completely happy there. It would help if there was some sort of funds to help us parents from the full burdon of a $400+ monthy fee. Not all of us are truly able to afford that. One great thing lacking in Litchfield is services for the residense. I watch and listen but just dont understand to what our taxes really go for. With all the new construction, wouldnt the services need to be up there in priority?
You would think so katmelsha, but not necessarily. I've become very aware of taxes and what they're used for since moving to Londonderry (getting onto the Londonderry Taxpayer's Association!) and in a town like Litchfield, there is really only the property taxes on residents to pay for everything that the town need to run.
Litchfield is now paying for all of those new "Town Buildings" in the last couple of years. What services specifically would you like to see added in Litchfield, and how might you as a voter be the voice to have some of these changes made? Of course when services are added, your tax burden will go up
As long as people continue to buy homes in a town that DOES NOT already have the services (such as kindergarden) the town isn't required to put them in... I always encourage folks to buy in a town that already has what they will need in the forseeable future, rather than hope for improvements later. Some people don't want or need kindergardens, great schools, full-time police/fire, or whatever, so chose a place to live based on that. It costs less to buy a home in Litchfield than Londonderry, and taxes are less because of those services. One goes hand in hand with the other...

Interesting that a place wouldn't provide kindergarten. An issue of funding I would assume. My children will be homeschooled so it's not an issue for us. Are most of the cities that actually provide kindergarten in NH full day or half?
