It is quite possible that I may buy a home in Raymond NH. The only problem is that a friend told me he's miserable with the school system for his kids. Can i please get input from others of the area? Is it a safe area for kids (meaning no ghettoness), etc. And any help on nice areas that are woodsy to raise a family close to a major highway or route would be very appreciated.
Raymond sits in a pretty area, and no shortage of "woodsy" about. I mean, you're a stone's throw from Pawtuckaway and Bear Brook isn't much further.
Ghetto? Heh. That's pretty funny. Not that NH doesn't have poverty anywhere, but Raymond is pretty average, not to mention tiny (under 10,000 strong).
Statistically Raymond is pretty much at the national median for incomes, and very low on poverty (6.0%) with the vast majority of poverty cases being among the elderly, not working age families.
I haven't read your other thread, but why Raymond in particular? I'm not saying it's not nice at all, but there are lots of nice towns around that area. Would you be working? Where? If you're working in Nashua or MA, then Hudson probably makes more sense.
If you and a spouse were splitting a Manchester/Portsmouth commute then Raymond would make a lot of sense.
True on the schools, though I think they're "average" more than outright bad. But I think that's why more input from the OP would be helpful.
The tradeoff with Raymond being a bit more affordable than Epping, and a lot more affordable than Exeter, is that the schools are not as strong.
But mostly I'm just unclear on why the two options being considered are Hudson vs. Raymond.
