Hi

Can someone suggest the best hospital for child birth/delivery in and around Nashua/Merrimack? We are new to this state.

we are planning to visit SJ obs & gynecology in Merrimack for prenatal. It'd be helpful if someone can suggest a good hospital around for delivery.

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, you only have two choices: SNHMC, and SJ. Both offer tours. AFAIK, If you have a C-section, SJ will not do a tubal ligation "while they're in there" where as SNHMC will.

In MA,

Brigham and Women's in Boston
MGH in Boston
Winchester in Winchester
Emerson in Concord

It's funny - everyone I know who has moved to NH and then had children worked with a MA hospital.

We are fairly new to this country (and to this medical system). Can someone explain how things work here? We have scheduled the prenatal appointment at SJ gyn in Merrimack. One of my co-worker told me that the doctor who does the prenatal check up should have admission privileges to the hospital where we want to have our baby. So will a doctor practicing NH have admission privileges to the hospitals in MA? If not, how do we proceed on this? Thanks.

To be honest, I'm not familiar enough with Lowell General to know what they specialize in.

That is correct. A physician has admitting privileges only to the hospitals she/he has affiliated with. Most likely, an OB/GYN with a practice in NH is going to be affiliated with local hospitals.

If you wanted to deliver at one of the big Boston birthing hospitals, you would have to select an physician affiliated with them and probably have to come into Boston for all your pre-natal check ups.

We are going ahead with SJ hospital as it is closer to our home (OB GYN Association). So far the experience is good.

Does anyone have any experience with them on the maternity related stuffs? Thanks.
