We just went to our annual city fair the other night and were wondering if any cities or counties in NH have sizeable annual fairs with thrill rides, food, games, concerts, etc? Where are some of the biggest ones in NH?
Thanks!

Fall fairs are part of the reason that many of us are ok with the ending of our much too short summer and for many of us, file is the favorite season of all...

Locally, the Hopkinton State Fair (https://www.hsfair.org/) is held on Labor Day Weekend, where the demolition derby seems to sell out every year. Lota and lots of fair foods ( freshly made giant Donuts, Apple crisp, sausage subs and the like...)

My favorite fair of all is the Deerfield fair (http://www.deerfieldfair.com/) Typically it's the last weekend of September or the first weekend of October, and is a very agricultural fair. There is flower and veggie judging, handcraft judging, tractor, horse and oxen pulling. 4H shows for every farm animal you can imagine, rabbits and sheep, goats and ducks, cows and chickens. And anyone who is into horses lives for the Deerfield Fair Horse Show (my personal favorite!) Yes, there is a midway with lots of rides, lots of junky fair foods, games of chance, and all the things that you would expect. Something for everyone!

There's another fair, a GREAT fair that we used to go to--up near North Conway. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the fair right now though. Someone will surely come along and mention it, I'm sure...

The Topsfield fair (http://www.topsfieldfair.org/) down in Massachusetts runs for about 2 weeks. Its not nearly as nice as our NH fairs, but the sheer length of the fair is nice. Plus there are various concerts and performances that many other fairs don't have..

If you're really looking for something different, King Richard'a Faire (http://www.kingrichardsfaire.net) down in Carver MA is a fun day. Its a renaissance fair, with lots of people dressed up for the event. Think turkey legs, swords and wenches... Google for more info. It's pricey, but fun and typically runs from Labor Day to Columbus Day.

Plymouth Fair.
Long gone.
Attendance declined after the do gooders banned the Goochi Goochi girls tent. Entrance for men only.

We attended the Sandwich Fair last year and it was pretty large.

THANK YOU, yes! I couldn't for the life of me recall the name of that one (and we've been at least a dozen times...)

I used to enjoy both Deerfield and Hopkinton.

Never been to the Fryeburg fair, but that's a nice hopping off point for exploring Conway and either Pinkham or the more easily overlooked Evans Notch.
