I'm looking for a place not too far from manchester, and an hour or so ride from it is good for me. It also is closer to NYC than most other nice places, because I would occasionally like to go back to NYC. Stoddard also has a low tax rate, and is very scenic. So I would like to know what are some downsides to Stoddard, besides the fact medical facilities are miles away. thanks

you can't get there from here....

you can't get anywhere from there....LOL

seriously....there is only one main road in and out of town - it's very rural - you may be closer to NYC as the crow flies, but it's a hike

Sounds like a challenge though, there has to be a way to get to Manchester from Stoddard though........... on a road of some sort, or some serious mountain biking??

Like man said. "You can't get there from heah. Or anywhare else." Stoddard is a lovely town on a beautiful lake. The nearest town is Keene just south on Rt 9 or Rt 10. Getting to NYC via I-91 requires a drive through Keene than 10 miles west.

If you want real quiet for most of the year, except summer, then this is a great location.

well.... to give you an idea, mapquest thinks you should go from (noplaceinparticular) Stoddard onto Rt 9 north to I89 (towards Concord), then down I93 to Manchester. If you're heading for the airport, that's at the south side of Manchester and would take you a bit over an hour to get there via this route.

Or, you could go down to Keene and pick up Rt 101 through Milford and up to Manchester, looks a little longer.
