Given the current run on housing, buying from afar is difficult, and expensive.

They're superficially similar, being in the same general part of the state (though different counties), both have an interstate highway running through and are close enough to the airport to get some plane noise (less so right now with reduced MHT operations) and have similar property tax rates.
Bedford is perceived as being rich and snobby, Londonderry is where the airport actually is and has more retail. Both have a retail corridor, a large swath of generic "suburbia", and some more rural parts with larger lots. Neither offers a traditional picturesque "town center" as seen on so many "New England" postcards.
I very much agree that on paper, they are very similar towns with a mostly similar demographic. A Bedford does have a significantly higher number of million dollar- plus properties, while in Londonderry, hitting the 7-figure mark is reserved for a VERY few properties. Average property values in Londonderry are more in line with neighboring communities of Derry & Litchfield - while Bedford is more similar to its neighbor, Amherst.
I would have to disagree with Londonderry having more retail than Bedford. Bedford has 2 distinct retail areas, both of which have high end option along Rte 3 and Rte 101, with restaurants like The Copper Door, Bedford Village Inn, LaBelle Winery & Bistro, the 1750 Tap House etc; grocery that includes Whole Foods, Trader Joe's as well as the usual Market Basket and Hannafords. The restaurants & retail in the strip-malls and along Rte 28 and Rte 102 in Londonderry just can't compare (disclaimer: I've been a Londonderry resident for 19 years so this is in no way putting down my town).
Both towns have 3 elementary schools, a middle school and a high school that serves town students (and both high schools are an option for a small number of towns to apply for, bus transportation not included if the student(s) are approved.
While Londonderry does not have a traditional 'town center' the crossroads of Mammoth Road (home to Mack's Apples) and Pillsbury Road (part of a scenic/historic Apple Way) has 2 churches (both 100+ years old) on opposite corners, andboh the other 2 corners, the town Grange and the Town Common where Old Home Day, weekly Concerts on the Common and various other activities take place.

While having a poster put all of their questions in one thread makes sense for helping that one person, having separate detailed questions will help countless other people who will search specific subjects when they happen to discover City Data. People 2 or 3 or 10 years later can look back and see not only today's answers, but also what questions might have been asked or answered in the past. IMHO, a general "Moving to NH from ________" is pretty vague and pretty much useless to anyone who comes along and attempts to search for answers before posting. In addition to becoming a searchable term, the forum will also make suggestions at the bottom of the page for Similar Threads (see pic below)
Edit: apparently I am unable to link a screenshot that I have on google photos showing additional link suggestions. If you haven't done it before, just scroll down to the bottom of this page - you should see 2 or 3 similar forum posts from this OP one others...

Good Lord, this is the 10th thread he's posted about his intended move to NH. What else could he possibly add about his requirements?
How do you know the OP is a HE?
