Hey Everyone,
I will be graduating from UMass Amherst in a few weeks and will be starting a job in Manchester. I am looking for places to rent and want to hear what you guys had to say.

I'm looking for a one bedroom apartment in the $600-$1000 range. I have thought about splitting a 2 or 3 BR with others but I'm not sure how I feel about that. At school, I've had roommates and apartment mates but they were all friends so I never had any problems. I don't know how things with a random guy would work out. I do know that I want my own room though. What are your thoughts?

Also, can anyone recommend any apartment complexes within commuting distance of Manchester that I can look into? Maybe even names of nearby towns so I have a better idea when I'm browsing craigslist.

I'm heading out there Monday to fill out paperwork related to the job hire so I thought I could take a look at a few places. I will need a lease starting in June.

Thanks.

akpak, congrats on graduating, that's a wonderful accomplishment!

For commutable towns to Manchester, you might want to consider Manchester (watch the neighborhoods tho...), Hooksett, Goffstown, Londonderry and depending on what side of Manchester you're on, Merrimack. You could also consider Salem (south of Manchester on I93) since you'd be going in the opposite direction of the majority of traffic.

One area to check out in Manchester is Eastern Ave, just off Wellington Road (Exit 8/I93). There is building after building after building--don't know if you'd consider something like that but check within the lease office for more details.

I send you a direct message with some apartment listings under $1000 a month, maybe something there would work for you. Anyway, best of luck

Also, since I'm moving there from college I won't have any friends or know anyone in the area. I'd like to move to a complex that has a fairly young crowd. I've heard Manchester Place is one such complex but is a bit pricey.

Anyone know of any other complexes like that with a good population of like 20-30 yr olds?

(That's just a preference. I'm not sure if I'm violating any sort of anti-discriminatory rules by stating that. If I am, I apologize and please feel free to delete this post.)
