Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input. He's there today looking and I think we're going to go with Exeter for now.

Exeter is nice town. My daughter lives there. Try the Loaf and Ladle for a nice lunch. Not to far from the seacoast either.Nice place

check out Derry. It has an old fashioned down town with a park next to the library. It has shopping centers and a movie theatre. It's easy to get to all of southern NH and it's a desirable area to live.

We willing be moving to NH also, and we really like Keene. It has a good feel. My daughter and her husband lived there a few years, had to move to Mass for his job, but want to move back there as soon as they can. I don't see the fact of it being a "college town" to be a detractor. We, too, are from Florida and can't wait to move.

Keene. well, the biggest problem with it being a college town is that apparently the college kids seem to be a bit.. unruly, and like to behave like 'college kids' with all the demonstrating and anti-establishment stuff that college kids tend to do. That can be a drag. And Keene, for all that it seems to be a lovely town, is pretty much away from much of anything - make sure you're ok with that. And.. it does get more snow than much of southern NH, coming from FL, make sure you don't underestimate the cold and snow. But that aside, Keene can be nice - I remember some lovely old neighborhoods.

If you're going with Exeter then I'd try more of Portsmouth. You're kids are going to be in culture shock as NH is sparsely populated even the "cities" aren't really cities except for Concord and Manchester. Its not like what you see in Fla. Keene is way far out there, with nothing around it. You can really only get to it a couple ways on one way highways, and in the winter time forget it. They get dumped with snow over and over. It will be an hours drive to a mall and such, and Vermont is even less populated. Stick to the seacoast if you can, or closer to it. You'll be bored in places like Keene, Surry, Winchester etc. and so will your kids.

Default Hello Floridians.........

Moved up from Florida 9 months ago. A word of advise.....winter can be challenging, so stay in area closer to city,or easy access roads to get around. Be prepared to miss the sunshine but just enjoy the mountain views and fresh air. Change is good, it just takes adjustment. Good luck with the move.

Back Home, congrats on making it through what must have been 9 tough months after being in Florida. Are you originally from NH and moved back, or a newcomer to our state?

Valerie C....I'm originally from CT, moved to florida for 6 yrs and decided to move back home to New England. NH is beautiful and CT is very expensive right now, so here I am. Yes, the winter was the worst I've ever been in since we were kids. What a challenge getting to work!!! Next year studs on my tires are a must!!!
