Thanks buck. I'm pretty much healed up now. I broke my back in a bike wreck on new years day.Im totally amazed as to how well i'm doing.I've been back riding for about a month now. Just the loss of wages ect. wont make Bike Week a reality for me this year which really stinks cause i bought that cabin up there ten months ago and have only been able to spend a few days up there. Hopefully i'll be up there full time next year.
Ken - Sorry to hear about your back - that had to be painful and scary!
Nicole - Any reports on bike week? The radio just said attendance is way down...have you noticed that as well?
Dare-Some people say that crowds are down and I also read the same in the local paper. Plus before yesterday the weather has been yucky. However, today starts the big 4 day weekend-where most of the crowds come, roads are closed, etc. We also have to start showing our license to get up our road. We have gone down a few times but not for a long period of time due to the weather. Hopefully this weekend there will be good weather, as I want to eat some good food and take lots of pics
Could it be that the date change for bike week just doesn't work for people? I believe that this is the 1st year that bike week BEGINS on Fathers Day weekend (it used to finish up on Father's Day) at least that's how it was back in the day when I used to go see and be part of the sights

Yes I am sure moving the date did not help either!
This is also the weekend for the Harley Rendevous over in Pattersonville N.Y. They seem to let bikers act more like bikers than in the Laconia Area. I've seen it down here in Daytona where a lot of things have moved up towards Ormand Beach area where they let bikers be bikers. Things have been working good in Laconia for 84 years. Dont try to change it now.

I agree. They seem to try and make Laconia bike week more "family friendly". I totally disagree with that. I mean this is a week where bikers can come to relax, catch up ,blow off some steam. Aren't there enough things for familes to do without trying to change bike week?
I am not saying that you should allow all out chaos to happen but just from speaking to bikers up here they are not happy with the changes. Fewer beer tents and stuff like that. Now I know we need to take public safety into account but I also think there is a thing as going too far in the other direction.
well...I went cruising today - didn't want to take the gas, but went for the plunge anyhow - I did the loop - up 16 through conway, then berlin and across Dixville Notch where I got a peek at the Balsams. Over to Colebrook, down 3 south and across the Bear Notch road to the Kancamangus and over to 16 and back where I started. Lots of motorcycles today and why not? it was gorgeous!!!!
I was impressed with the number of bikes at the Smokehouse Restaurant over in Ossippee near Mt. Whittier.
