My dad is giving me a car with a title in his name and I would like to get a new title so that I can trade it in for a new car. The car is registered in another state and I do not want to register it in NH. How long does it take to get a new title with my name on it? I spoke to the substation in Dover, and they said it might take a month, or I can go to Concord and it might take anywhere from 5-10 days. The problem is, they are not opened on Saturdays and they are closed before I get out of work. I have gone to town hall and they have done the paper works for me, they said I just need to go to the DMV now. Couldn't they sent it to the DMV themselves? What can I do? i want to get a new title as soon as possible.
I have found the registry fairly consistent at about a month turnaround-time. Your Town Clerk can intitate this process (for a nominal fee, I think, it's $5.00), if you do not intend to register the vehicle.

Right. So 1 month to get the title in NH vs. 2 days first class mail to Arizona and 2 back...
Has he already signed it over to you? That actually may be enough for the dealer to take it.
