I am looking at moving to the Hanover from PA due to a possible job offer. I am a Electrical/Mechanical Engineering professional. I wanted to know from native NH residents and transplants how and what to expect - people, weather and lifestyle. I have never been to NH before, but have been to VT (Burlington/Montpelier/Lake Champlain area)

Some more information about myself - I am male, 30, a naturalized resident of Indian (the country) ethnicity and non-Christian. I think I may stick out a little bit more there - but that doesn't bother me - so far, all the people I have spoken to have been very nice.

Would like to know your opinions on living in the Hanover area - culture, anecdotes, dos and dont's :-), dating scene acceptance for ethnic/foreign people and just general advice.

Thanks

Ram

Hanover is one of the more culturally and racially diverse areas on the state. Thanks to Dartmouth College, DHMC, and a few large tech companies in the area, people come from all over the world to live and work here. I would actually say the area has a fairly large Indian population with a couple of great restaurants as well.

Hanover is one of a bunch of small towns that make up what we call the "Upper Valley." Home prices, property taxes, amenities, schools and diversity vary widely from town to town try to visit a few places to figure out where best to live and what your budget is.

I think Hanover is a very pretty place and in my opinion you could do much worse. It seems quite liberal so I would remember that but that might be just super!

I too am moving to Hanover from a big city, and we chose it because the university brings so much diversity to the area. You will find every kind of person there.
