That is the same legislation that has been coming out every year for the past few years. That news went around a few months ago.

The difference is that now the Democrats control the house, senate and the presidency. The Democrat Party special interests include the anti-gun ownership people and they expect action given their support for Obama in 2008...

The Democratic controlled house overwhelmingly voted to eliminate the sever gun restriction in DC just a couple of month ago. I think the party has figured out this is one issue they can stop fighting about. There are more votes to lose than to gain by being anti-gun.

Like I mentioned earlier, they are simply waiting until after the mid term and the presidential election before re-visiting gun control.

The dems don't want to do anything to risk their monopoly in both branches and they would give the republicans a unifying point (something which they don't currently have) if they touch guns.

Just wait a few years.....it will come up again.

Yep. They will Democrats hate an armed populace. It didn't work out too well for the Brits.

Yes it will come up again and then we will see. GregW, asking your reps. what they think of gun control is pointless. They will tell you what you want to hear. Wait till this comes up again and see which way they go when the bill comes up for a vote.

FWIW - I do not currently have any of the listed weapons. Actually publication of that list is just a propoganda tactic to get you to join the NRA or just to buy firearms even if you do not need them. Scare tactics.
Uh, not so fast, Greg. I wrote Che-Porter a while back about HB1022 (last Congress) and got back a form letter. Trust me, she'll go along with any AWB or Second Amendment restrictions that Nancy Pelosi tells her to vote for. The letter I got back (e-mail, actually) was some intern-inspired tripe about how she "supports" gun ownership for hunting, but doesn't mean you(and I'm quoting here, believe it or not) "have the right to own a rocket launcher or a car bomb."

I couldn't make that one up if I tried.

Ya see, Greg, the Second Amendment guarantees the right of the populace to be armed not so much from each other but from a tyrannical government. To quote Aristotle, "Tyrants mistrust the people, hence they deprive them of arms."

I should have the right to choose how to defend my home and property, and just because a particular weapon has a folding stock or "looks scary" isn't reason enough to ban it. Enforce the laws we have and lock up the gang-bangers using the AK's, SKS, and other weapons the Brady gun-grabber types are so "skeered" of.

In the meantime, might I suggest you pick up a copy of John Lott's book, "More Guns, Less Crime" when you have a few minutes free?

Man, how can you afford to use that gun very often? I just priced Lake City ammo online, provided you can even FIND it.

Thanks, Obama!
