More specifically Silver Street (the house number is in the 400's).
I'm from Upstate NY (in a very suburban area) and I'm trying to decide on where to relocate. I fell in love with a Silver Street house (it's listed online), but I'm not aware of how good the neighborhood is. The house itself is gorgeous, but I can't find any information about the surrounding area.
I have a few questions, listed below...
-What would you describe the neighborhood as? (suburban, industrial, etc.)?
-How are the schools?
-How far away is a major hospital (rather, any hospital in general)?
-Is there a country club (or even a golf course) in/near Milton?
-How is the retail shopping? Is there a mall close to Milton?
-Is there a beach nearby? How far away is it?
-How's the climate? I'm used to snow, living in Upstate NY, but how warm are the summers?
According to the listing, it's in Milton. I searched this, and I found that there is a Silver Street in Milton, so to my belief, it's correct. Based on my researching of the area, I found that it's located near Rochester, NH (within 15 minutes of Rochester to be precise). To my knowledge, it's a small town, hence the confusion? Here is a link to a Wikipedia page on Milton...
There is not much in Milton. A little new construction but mostly older homes. If you move there check where your home is in relation to the Dam as it was under alert during one or more of the major 3 floods that NH has had in the past few years.
We have friends from my husband's work who live there and they like it.
You can shop in Rochester, Dover or Portsmouth/Newington. Newington has a mall- in my estimation it would be around 30 minutes away
You say you live in a very suburban area and also inquire about a country club. Milton is not really a town that would come to mind when those two things are mentioned. I think nearby Farmington has a golf course/country club but I don't know anything about it.
Milton was on the outer ring of my search area when I was looking for land. Since I have a young son, schools were important to me. From the research I did, the school situation is not good. Not well performing, infrastructure crumbling, and if I remember correctly the high school wasn't even accredited. I took it off my list.
I'd consider it rural, though I haven't been there in a while. Newington is closer to 45 minutes away, but for most of your shopping you'd be happy with Rochester (15 min) or Dover/Somersworth (25 min).
I think the closest hospital would be in Rochester, but don't quote me.
Closest beach? Hampton or York, I'd guess at least 45 minutes away, maybe even an hour with traffic. You can be in Portsmouth Harbor in 45, but no beach.
Country club or golf course? Sorry, not my thing...
Weather? Similar to upstate NY winter or summer. Milder as you hit Dover/Portsmouth due to the ocean effect.
Milton is a bid rundown in certain sections with new construction in other areas. It is very close to amenities in Rochester, though. In that part of the state I like Wakefield a bit better.

Anything else you can think of would be great.
I'm looking for a house and saw a really nice one on Silver Street, but it was in the 200s. The beautiful house was on a piece of property that had a run down shack in it's front yard (not part of their property though) What a turnoff. They don't show those things when you see property online. When I went and saw it in person I didn't even want to go into the house. I could not look at that every day when I left my house or when I came home.
