So far , our experience based on visiting New England has been pretty good. I haven't met any rude people. We have met a few nice people, and some just ignored us.
I think next time we plan on a trip up north we are going to spend more time in New Hampshire.

You and me both. It's just days away from Thanksgiving and it's going to be in the upper 80s!!!!! Not that it's anyone's fault because Florida is a tropical state, but I've had it!!! Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, next year we'll be out of here. I punish myself practically everyday looking at the weather forecast in NH and wish I was there; my wife is telling me to stop because it's only adding to my misery. Wah!

Has this been your experience also? ( or are you originally from there)

Is New Hampshire any different ( besides the taxes) from the rest of the New England States?
I can't speak to any of the other New England states because I've only lived in New Hampshire. We moved here from Colorado (I'm a Colorado native). We've also lived in Oregon, New York (Rockland County), and Switzerland. My husband grew up on Long Island and went to college in Cambridge, MA.

When my husband got his job in Manchester, he told me that he wasn't looking forward to moving here. He thought it would be a lot like Massachusetts, which he didn't like. But he was completely wrong. We were just talking about this last night. We both love it here. Every single day that I go out and interact with people I'm amazed at how friendly and kind everyone is. I used to think you found that only in the west or the south, but I was wrong, too. People in New Hampshire are warm and wonderful.

We had this driven home to us during the past couple of weeks. We've been shopping for a late-model car. I've done a lot of research online, and we've visited dealers in both MA and NH. In MA we got the most aggressive sales pitches you can imagine. Even though we told them we had just started looking, that we were considering other makes/models, and that we definitely weren't going to make a purchase that day, they pushed and pushed and pushed. The experience in NH was completely different. The sales people we talked to were friendly, helpful, and informative. No high-pressure sales pitch. A completely different experience. I know you can't generalize; there could be plenty of sales people in MA who aren't like that. I'm just stating what our experience was.

Default level of "friendliness"

SGS123...

I have to qualify this because I am not a NH resident... yet.

(I was born and still live in Ma. Hoping to move to NH soon, and will absolutely leave any vestiges of this socialist nanny state behind.)

I spent lots of time in New Hampshire growing up and in my 20's. I then spent lots of time living in Europe, and traveling extensively throughout the US.

One time when I was in London, a friend said to me "Cash, you're not like most Americans. Most Americans come over here and tell us what we're doing wrong, and how they do it (whatever "IT" happens to be) and tend to do so in a loud obnoxious way. You listen to us and try to appreciate what WE do, HOW we do things, and learn about our culture. Speaking on behalf of all the lads... We all appreciate that." (these guys were rugby players)

I would venture to say that most New Hampshire people would agree with that sentiment...

Good luck with your move

the thing about being sunny when it's winter... well its not so great, since you get blinded everytime you walk out the door! Other than that, I like Manchester It's a nice little city. Lots of stuff to do. Adam Sandler went to High School here :]
