We went to Great Island Common yesterday. The weather was great, rain held off. Almost nobody on the little spit of beach. Dh set up our tent fly and the kids went nuts building in the sand. Because it's off season, there was no fee to enter, but the bathroom wasn't open either. But there's a great little sandwich shop a little further into town, and they were very nice about letting us use their facilities when I went in to buy lunch. I felt a little funny playing in the sand practically in someone's backyard, otherwise it was just a wonderful day. Kids got all sandy, probably ingested their share of microbes (esp. the baby. Must be genetic, this desire to eat sand
), and our DD2 got all wet sloshing through tidepools
