Maybe the old Pier 1 site could be used for a Trader Joes.

Wow, they have been at that site since 1972 according to the article. Wonder what will take its place. I like the suggestion of a Trader Joes, I think it is a nice location for one. Just down the street from both Wegmans and CH Mall.

If I remember correctly, Pier 1 was built after Valentino's burned. Valentino's replaced O'Henry's. They were supper clubs.

Yeah, hopefully it's not something lame like a Sleepy's relocation.

Fortunoff Backyard Store, which likely competes to an extent with Pier 1, also opened in Haddonfield Rd a couple of months ago. This is a NY chain with one store in So. NJ, kind of like PC Richard & Son.

The chain tried a location in Marlton, as it's So. NJ store before, which was ironically a Pier 1 store that had failed when Pier 1 tried Marlton, in the Borders plaza. I think that site was originally Zainy Brany, and is now a gym Club Metro.

Haddonfield Rd. is a good retail corridor currently between the CH Mall and Route 70.

In the Borders plaza, the last addition, Club Metro USA, a low cost gym, was somewhat a mediocre choice to put in there.

Just an update, the old building has been cleared out and the signs removed already. The new building they plan to move into is not ready yet though. According to the CP article posted, they don't plan to move into the new building until this fall. I wonder why they cleared out the old location so quickly.

EDIT: Looks the building is already on loopnet. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/18029...herry-Hill-NJ/ It says the Pier 1 lease ends 7/31/13, so that explains why they cleared out so quickly. I had assumed Pier 1 owned the building since they have been there so long.
