I just found out about upgrades being done on Steel Pier, some to be completed by Memorial Day, some to take longer. By Memorial Day they will have 8 new rides, one of which is a 200 foot tall ferris wheel!
I get a little scared on Wonderland's wheel in OC, and that's only 140 foot tall, but one of the tallest in the country nonetheless I will be nervous up top, but I think the lights of AC would look awesome from up there!
The best part is it will have gondolas that are heated so they can run it year round. I think that's a great idea, NO ONE else down here has that. I think a lot of families that have homes down here and come down over holidays and weekends in the shoulder seasons and will include Steel Pier on there "things to do" list just for that, and day trippers, too. How cool would it be to go on a Ferris Wheel on Christmas Eve!

They will also have an entertainment center for concerts by Memorial Day.

Story is about 1/2way down:http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/n...9bb2963f4.html

I wasn't aware of that I've wanted to try the "breakfast in the sky" they have on that wheel, but I'm not willing to pay $40 a person for breakfast!
