Gray,

It is a hassle working with FEMA to get adjustments made as FEMA controls the flood mapping and other entities pull data from their maps. Another oddity is how mortgage companies set up their flood insurance requirements...I have seen some banks require flood insurance if any part of a property was in the flood plain and others only require it if a portion of the house was in the flood plain.

As for the "re-examination"...the whole countries flood plain mapping was updated from approximately 2006-2009. So the re-examination wasn't from Irene, it was an ongoing process for the last half decade.

I would re-examine the LOMA, double confirm the flood benchmarks used, etc.....mainly look for those few inches in any place possible. If you want....send me a private message and I can take a look at your LOMA map and see if there is a place I can suggest looking for a chance to find those inches.

Thanks waytosouth...I tried to PM you but it says that you cannot recieve PM's. If you can PM me, I'd give you the map location for FEMA if you PM me. I am refinanceing with my friends bank which was just absorbed by another but he doesn't seeing us being "exempt" from it this time either. The LOMA was rechecked by our surveyor and he says that is still under in the basement by inches; oddly, my insurance has tripled while my next door neighbor is exempt...just doesn't make sense at all?

Default Resolution?

Have you found any relief? We purchased our home in Collingswood in 2006 and did not require flood insurance at the time. Due to the re-examining of the flood plane, we now pay a premium of $2630 that we can't afford. I need help!

the government wont be happy until everyone has left NJ.

Do you have a link to the updated Camden County maps?
Last year we were looking at a property on Big Timber Creek, and one of the reasons we stayed away was not know what they updated flood maps would bring.
The property is still available, and I am curious of impacts,

Sadly, the flood insurance is no longer a bill that I wish to pay. We are going to down-size and move away from the beautiful lake that will never flood the house.
